Sorry, to inform you but my fight on May 5th is cancelled. I'm not responsible for this or wanted this to happen. In fact I have been training my butt off since the promotion confirmed to me the fight and was even under contract. The promoter is having some kind of contact dispute with the venue and has decided to cancel it. They are talking about possibly rescheduling for June. I'm not happy about this but I have no power to do anything. So, people who have bought tickets please get your money back. There should not be a problem since I've talked to the promoter about it. If there is let me know. Hotel reservations should be easy to cancel since I think you had up to 24 hours to cancel. I'm sorry for the inconvenience any of you had with getting work off for this. If you know anyone that was suppose to go please let them know. Soon as I get a chance I'm going to look for a new promotion to get another fight lined up. On a good note, I have made a deal with Black Mark Fight Gear as a sponsor. You will now see me wearing Black Mark fight shorts at all of my fights that they are giving to me. Check out the web page and click on my picture to see some from my fight. http://www.marknegron.com/

I'm back from Indiana where I was able to beat Sean Sallee in my return MMA match after spending the last 4 years competing in Sanda. He tapped out after receiving a cut from an elbow towards the end of the first round.
Big thanks to Steve Colegio and Curtis Chapman for the help in training once again. These guys are my core support when it comes to training. Steve is my main sparring partner and is always able to push me in sparring. Curtis has worked hard at become an expert pad holder and helps me get the proper conditioning. Dennis Vogt and Ed Moroschan from Tap or Snap Submission also came in to help coach me in getting my ground game back up and running. Louai Mishack and Curtis Chapman also helped corner me for the win. Big thanks to everyone that took the 5 hour drive to come watch me in this fight. I'd list names but there was a lot and I'd hate to forget someone.
11/19/2006Brad is set to fight Sean Sallee in his return to MMA on December 9th, 2006. You can get more information on the fight below. http://colosseumcombat.com/
3/12/2006Brad wrote in an email:
I just got back from New York City a few hours ago. I was able to successfully defend my USKBA World Cruiserweight belt against Dirceu dos Santos of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Dirceu dos Santos is a five time Sao Paulo state champion, the current Brazilian national champion and won a silver medal in the San Da World Cup in Macau. In the beginning of the match, my opponent was able to get a lot of throws and counter throws on me. After the first round, I felt like I really started to change things and turn the heat up. I was able to win the fight by TKO in the third round. I thought the event went over good and had a lot of exciting fights. This fight was a great win for me and I'm really only successful because of the great support group I have. With that said I'd like to thank Steve Colegio, Curtis Chapman, and Louai Mishack most of all. Steve Colegio is 42 years old (Age doesn't mean much when this guy hits you!), has a family with three children, and is a police detective. With all that Steve has going on he still finds time to make it out and help me get ready for my fights. Back in 2003, Curtis Chapman setup up to the plate when I desperately need a pad holder. Because of the hard work he has put into it he has become one of the best pad holders around. Louai Mishack drove all the way out to NYC to help warm me up and corner me. Louai can help bring anyone's potential out.
Other people that helped! Sparring partners Justin Ciampa, Jerry, George Moore, Cheryl Dotter, Melissa Miller, Ed Anglin, and Kathy Bianchini. Cornering Big Mike Cheering section Mary Baginski, My father Gary, twin sister Bridgett, Danielle Trober, Lisa, Rhonda, and the rest of my sister friends. lol Big Mike also fought on the card and has been training with the Ronin Fight Team for several months now. Mike's fight was a very exciting match and him and his opponent really went at it. I will hopefully have pictures on the web site in a week or two!
Thanks, Brad Burrick
3/3/2006FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
USA vs. Brazil is feature of Titans event in NYC on March 11, 2006
New York, NY Dirceu dos Santos of Sao Paulo, Brazil resisted the temptations of Carnival and has arrived today in New York to make final preparations for his challenge for the USKBA world San Da title on Satuday, March 11 at the PAL Duncan Center on 52nd street in Manhattan. Santos is a five time Sao Paulo state champion, the current Brazilian national champion and won a silver medal in the San Da World Cup in Macau. As impressive as those credentials read, he's facing Brad Burrick of Michigan and that's quite a challenge. Brad not only currently holds the USKBA world title, he has also already beaten the IWUF World San Da champion from Russia, the man who beat Santos at the world cup.
Another championship fight of the night will see two men who may have fallen once to Bad Brad Burrick but have not given up on their dream of a world title. In a battle for redemption, and probably another shot at the world title, Feliz Mejia and Richie Council will face off for the vacant USKBA East Coast. Probably sitting near by will be Stephane Cloud, a rapidly rising star of the weight class. Cloud was originally scheduled to face Mejia but had to drop out due to an injury. Once healed, Cloud will be the wild card in what is arguably the most competitive division in US San Da right now.
Among the ten other fights of the night will also be a match of local interest as two men face off in a tongue in cheek grudge fight. Damien Caldwell comes out of Master Parrella's Kung Fu and is trained by Chan Tai San disciple Michael Parrella. TJ Papa comes out of Green Cloud Kung Fu and is trained by another Chan Tai San disciple, Gus Kaparos. It promises to be a good natured romp as two heavyweights fight for bragging rights in the same tradition.
Titans will be held at the PAL Duncan Center at 552 W 52nd Street on Saturday, March 11. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $20 for general and $35 for ringside. For tickets please call (212) 239 8619
2/25/2006The Ronin Fight Team would like to wish Melissa Miller the best of luck in her up coming surgery! Melissa has been a member of the Ronin Fight Team for over a year now. Known as Miller Time! she always brings a positive energy to the class.
2/11/2006Training has begun for the Return of the Titans event being held March 11, 2006 in New York City.
10/24/2005Written by Brad:
Just arrived back with my new world Sanda cruiserweight belt from the Mohegan Sun Casino in CT. I fought Richie Council from Ohio for the vacant belt. Originally, the fight was scheduled with another opponent, Sam Spangler, which backed out about a week and half before. Luckily for me, Richie Council came into to fight me. If he wouldn't have I would have lost a lot of money and time along with others. The bout only went three rounds which was originally scheduled for five. This was brought on because of the extremely poor time management and organization of Peter Roger's promotion. Me and Richie, didn't end up fighting until 1:30AM. After three rounds, I was awarded the vacant world cruiserweight belt. I have only respect for Richie Council and hope him the best in the future. Overall the trip has left me unsure of my next step in fighting. Seeing how poorly me, my family, and friends were treated I'm going to take sometime to reconsider some things considering I'm currently receiving no compensation. One things is for sure, I will never again fight for that promotion. The Mohegan Sun was a beautiful place and we had tons of fun leading up to the fight. As always I would like to thank these three guys they are the reason I have any success:
Curtis Chapman for being my number 1 pad holder
Steve Colegio for coming out to spar
Louai Mishack for traveling out with me and working my corner
I'd also like to thank:
David Ross for match making
The Tap or Snap Submission guys for helping me train
Jerry Smith for coming out to train
And all my family and friend that took the long trip to attended the event and support me!
Hopefully, I will have some pictures on the web site in a week or two.
Thanks,
Brad Burrick
10/16/2005Brad and Mary traveled to Akron, OH on Saturday Oct 8th for the Iron Tiger Challenge. Brad helped out by judging some of the matches. Scott Sheeley ran the event. The event had a good size of competitors and showed some up and comers.
7/21/2005An article was featured in the July 21st issue of the Macomb Daily about Brad's latest win in New York City.
Champion kickboxer sharpens skills
PUBLISHED: July 20, 2005
By John Hetzler Macomb Daily Sports Writer
Brad Burrick keeps fighting San Da, keeps climbing up the amateur ranks of his sport. He's paid his dues in and out of the ring, paying his own way to compete in tournaments on the East Coast, driving 10 hours for a chance at a championship. He's passed on hanging out with friends and cut down on his social activities as he begins a strict workout schedule for an upcoming bout. He sets up his own training regimen, working out in his drive to move into the professional ranks of the United States Kickboxing Association. And though he used to dryheave before a match, he no longer is afraid of getting hurt. San Da a form of Chinese selfdefense and a martial art is his passion. I love it, obviously, said Burrick, a 27yearold Sterling Heights resident who is unafraid of the consequences of pursuing his dream. You've got to be very dedicated, said Steve Colegio, Burrick's sparring partner. You really never have any promises at the end. You're just doing it because you want to do it. As far as sacrifices, there are a lot, Burrick said. I do give up a lot of money, but that's no big deal. The hard part is time because you have to be so committed. The hard work is yielding results. Last month at New York, the 185pound Burrick won the USKBA Amateur San Da Cruiserweight United States Championship with a unanimous decision over Feliz Mejia. Pretty exciting fight, his friend and cornerman, Louia Mishack, said. His opponent was pretty skilled. It went back and forth. The first round was close, but it was pretty well dominated by Brad after that. I was more conditioned than him, Burrick said. When I got later into rounds, I was able to push myself more. His road to the championship started long ago.Burrick began taking martial arts when he was 9 years old, and his training intensified when he enlisted in the Army Rangers after graduating from Sterling Heights High School. I kind of got consumed by it, Burrick said. After trying Ultimate Fightingtype competitions for three years, Burrick pushed into San Da in 2001. As a sport, San Da differs from Americanstyle kickboxing in that leg kicks, sweeps and throws are allowed. In fact, San Da is more similar to Ultimate Fighting except that clinching is limited to a few seconds and fights do not continue on the ground. Fighters must get back to their feet to continue a match. For Burrick, the sport clicked. I liked it so much I started doing it and never stopped, he said. Like all fighting sports, there is danger. There's always fear, Burrick said. When I first started, I was dryheaving. He's past that now. I've done it so long and I'm so experienced and trained to a certain degree that I'm not worried about it anymore, Burrick said. (But) the performance anxiety is always there. You don't want to make a fool of yourself. With few people involved in the sport in the Midwest, Burrick must go to the East Coast for matches. (Burrick said San Da also is popular on the West Coast). Wherever he's gone, he's excelled, winning a world tournament last year in New Jersey. He's going to beat you, period, Colegio said. Though he must travel long distances, he gets plenty of support from family and friends. His older brothers gave him the nickname Bad Brad. He spars with Steve Colegio of Warren. Mishack, a friend from high school, was there in New York last month. So was Burrick's father, Gary. And Brad's twin sister Bridgett was there, too. She's the one ringside yelling at me to do better, he said. Others share his passion. In turn, he shares his passion with others, teaching students through his company, Ronin Services LLC, at Xtreme Fitness in Sterling Heights. If I retire from fighting, Burrick said, I want to promote. But Burrick's not ready to retire. He wants to turn professional for his next fight in September or October, though that largely depends on the promotional companies on the East Coast. His sparring partner said he has the talent to succeed. He's got all the kicks, Colegio said, his boxing skills have really improved, and he's got the throws.
6/21/2005From Brad: I just drove back 10 hours in the car from New York City with my new USKBA(United States Kickboxing Association) Sanda U.S. Championship belt. I must add I think the belt is very beautiful and well made. My opponent was Feliz Mejia from the Grapplers Gym who was currently ranked 3rd in the US. We fought 5 rounds at 3 minutes each to decide who would be the champ. The match went to decision and 2 of the 3 judges gave me every round. Feliz Mejia was a tough opponent with his speed and foot work but I was able to do enough to win the match. At one point in the match we were all given a scare as Feliz neck hit the ropes as I was throwing him. After a quick look over by the doctors he showed great heart and continued to fight like a true warrior. Several family and friends enjoyed the other fights and the event was run very organized. I'd like to thank Steve Colegio who has been training with me for 4 or 5 years now. Steve Colegio always shows up when I need someone to spar that is skilled (which is hard to find) and makes sure I'm squared away to fight. I wouldn't be successful without his help.
I'd also like to thank:
Curtis Chapman for pad holding. He has become one of the best! Nabil Baize for sparring, holding pads, and cornering. Melissa Miller for sparring. Louai Mishack for cornering. And my family and friends for the great support! Check out the www.uskba.com in the next few days for more pictures and their write up. I will also have some up on the www.roninservices.net site in a few weeks.
Thanks,
Brad Burrick

New York, NY Sport Fighting Titans is just a little more than a week away and the card looks to be nonstop action! The feature fight of the night sees Brad Burrick (Ronin Fight Team) facing Feliz Mejia (Grappler's Gym) for the USKBA United States Cruiserweight San Da title.:
After the retirement of national champion Adam Resnick and the long injury absence of Ray Neves, Brad Burrick of Michigan stepped to the forefront of the division. Most recently, Brad fought the IWUF world champion from Russia at the USKBA sponsored international tournament in September and defeated him in a close war. Brad is also a multiple time ABOC champion. His opponent, Feliz Mejia of Brooklyn, NY is a relative newcomer but has gotten a lot of attention for his flashy style and showmanship. Feliz is also known for his straight forward, no surrender style. For these reasons, this title match looks like it may be a fight of the year.:
A cofeature of the night sees two fighters stepping out of their respective styles to meet under Muay Thai rules. Ian Morgan (NY San Da) is one of the country's best San Da fighters. Jason Teitelbaum (Takemicikaikan Karate) is a champion in full contact, knockdown Karate with an impressive record of 223. Unable to use his impressive throws, initial odds are that Teitelbaum's striking may be the key to victory. But others note Ian Morgan's right round kick, known as the weapon in his community! Who will be victorious? You'll have to show up to find out!:
At press time, the under card features an additional 10 matches with fighters from Extreme Muay Thai, Ultimate Gym, Empire Boxing, Borodin's Gym, EDGE martial arts, and NY San Da. This event benefits St. Jude's Children's Charity, so everyone is really fighting for a good cause!"
5/30/2005Until the end of July, there will be open training at 8 PM on Tuesday nights for no extra charge.
5/22/2005Brad Burrick fought a heavy weight in an exhibition at Kerry Roop's fight night on May 21st. The match was under modified Muay Thai rules. The majority of the match was in the clinch were Brad was able to dominate the fight. Brad came close to knocking out his much larger opponent at the end of the third and final round with some punches. Brad now continues training for his match on June 18th for the Sanda US belt in New York City.
3/7/2005Brad sent out an email saying:
"The Ronin Fight Team returns from the 2005 Arnold Classic where two competitors (Everett Hall and Brad Burrick) fought in the Sanda kickboxing. Everett Hall took the silver medal in the “B” division at his weight class. He beat his first opponent by winning the first two rounds and moving to the finals. At the finals he fought a more experience fighter and lost after three rounds. Everett showed great heart and determination. He is well on his way to a great fight career now that his first real competition is under his belt. I, Brad Burrick, won my division for the 4th year in a row. I was awarded a championship belt along with the other “A” division champions. Most likely that was my last year competing at the Arnold considering I have won the tournament 4 times striaght. Big thanks to Steve Colegio and Curtis Chapman for once again making sure I'm fit and ready to fight! And another thanks to all the people that drove down to Columbus, Oh to watch me compete."
1/26/2005Saturday the 22nd of Jan. Everett Hall got his feet wet by fighting in his very first match. This was a modified Sanda match and competed against Jason from Tap or Snap Submission. Everett did great for his first time and made a good showing for the Ronin Fight Team. Brad Burrick also did a friendly kickboxing match with Don Richards of the Warrior Way.
1/19/2005Everett Hall becomes the first person to compete from the Ronin Fight Team besides Brad. This will be at Kerry Roop's fight night and he is suppose to take on Jason from Tap or Snap Submission. Brad also hopes to get a fight that night to help kick off his training for the Arnold Classic.

BRAD BURRICK and his RONIN FIGHT TEAM, have recently become members of the USKBA Family.
Their website is located at www.RoninServices.net. We just received word from Brad that he recently received a 'great honor'. Congratulations to Brad from everyone at the USKBA! These are his own words:
"This past Thursday (121604), I attended my karate instructor's (Dr. Randolph Young) Christmas Party. There were approximately 60 to 70 people from his organization there to celebrate Christmas. Toward the end of the night, a couple of awards were scheduled to be given out. To my surprise, Dr. Young began to talk about me and my history. He then announced that he was naming a regular award after me called the "Brad Burrick Award". From my understand, it will be given to people that are able to overcome harsh conditions in their lives. If some of you do not know, ever since I was a young a boy, I have helped my family take care of my sick mother who is handicapped because of Multiple Sclerosis. While doing that, I was still able to graduate from college, compete regularly in full contact Martial Arts, and now even teach Martial Arts. He called me up in front of the group and then announced the first winner to be Sarah Wyss, a long time student of Cha Yundo, who has been struggling with her fight against diabetes. Sarah broke out into tears as it looked like something she needed at this point in her life. The whole situation was overwhelming to me. I feel greatly honored to get such respect from a man of integrity like Dr. Young. Dr. Young, for some time now, has become like a second father to me. He has not only helped my direction in the Martial Arts but also in life."
We at the USKBA encourage all USKBA Family members to email us with good news, announcements, and anything news worthy for our USKBA Member News headlines. Send your 'news' items to: news@uskba.com. Congratulations again Brad!
9/10/2004Brad was able to win the gold medal at the Sanda World Championships in Elizabeth, NJ. This was Brad's first world level event. Brad said, "I would like to thank everyone that helped out in my training. Finding people to help out is a hard thing to do. These people also sacrifice there time and bodies to help me train. I'd like to thank my longest training sparring partner, Steve Cogelio, for making it out whenever I need it the most. Louai Mishack, my long time friend, helped pushed me in the weight room and is always there to help corner so my head is on straight. My longest training student, Curtis Chapman, has become a great pad holder for me and corner. Nabil Baize for filling in as a pad holder and weight partner when Louai and Curtis couldn't make it. Everett Hall for sparring with me and make the long drive with his family to come watch the fight. I was also glad I could share this moment with my father."
3/9/2004Brad was able to win the gold medal in his division at the Arnold Classic for the third year in a row! Brad competed in the San Shou kickboxing again. Brad would like to thank Curtis Chapman, Steve Colegio, Louai Mishack, and Tim Morgan for the help!
